Ravens Get a Bad Rap: The Misunderstood Messengers
Judged for their dark feathers and literary shadows, ravens have been revered for centuries.
Across many cultures, ravens are seen as spiritual messengers, guides, and symbols of wisdom.
- Norse Tradition – Odin’s ravens, Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory), carried knowledge from the world.
- Celtic Tradition – Linked to the goddess Morrigan, symbolizing protection, prophecy, and transformation.
- Native American Traditions – Often honored as creators and bringers of light and sacred wisdom.
- Biblical Tradition – Ravens appear as providers, sent by God to bring food to the prophet Elijah.
My Connection to Ravens
Ravens have appeared throughout my life during moments of change. Three years ago, two ravens perched beside me while I sat outside with my dog Ryder. They remained there for nearly twenty minutes as I drank my coffee, while people passed by whispering about bad omens. I only felt peace.
The very next day, I began my first mediumship training at the Omega Institute. Looking back, that moment marked a shift in my life’s path.
To me, the raven represents transformation, wisdom, and the courage to walk between shadow and light. Ravenlight reflects that sacred meeting place — a reminder that even in dark seasons, there is always light and guidance.
